Fleamarket visit while sick as a dog.

Every december or january you can count on it that I am struck by pneumonia. Illness was slumbering already before Christmas, but on the first day of it I felt as sick as a dog. Yet my Christmas was great with lots of good food, family and lovely presents. That night I felt much, much sicker and symptoms of a pneumonia were present. On the second day of Christmas Ben and I planned to visit the fleamarket ( and dinner at my grandmothers house) and addicted to fleamarkets as I am, I flinged around the advice given to me, that I shouldn't go, in the wind and I went on my bike together with Ben to the fleamarket. It was incredibly crowdy but I found me some marvelous pursuits.

First of all, I found two sachets; one with shampoo from the 1930s and one with bleaching powder for hair, also from the 1930s. Rather pricey, but heck I just wanted them so badly!

~~~~~~~~
It was quite a 1930s day, as I also found me a lovely knitted purse from the 1930s with an amber toned molded celluloid frame with peacocks. These purses were home made from kits that were popular in the 1930s and 40's. Unfortunately, the arm lock of the purse is missing. But that doesn't make the purse less pretty. The fabric is silk rayon with a puff box pattern.
That it wasn't very wise of me to fling the signals of my body in the wind as I am even more ill now, might be crystal clear. However, I do not regret that I went to the fleamarket looking at my pursuits, but I do hope that I am back on the mend soon, as I will leave for Antwerp upcoming monday where I'll stay at the Diamonds and Pearls boutique hotel, to celebrate new year with Ben.
Did you all had a lovely Christmas time? And what are your plans for the new years celebration?
  1. Sorry to read your are ill. My whole family have had a nasty virus for over a week so Christmas was rather miserable. They're recovering but I'm not great as the virus has made my lupus flare badly.
    Its my most favourite time of the year but it doesn't feel like Christmas, we watch Its a wonderful life every Christmas eve but didn't even manage that.
    Hope you feel better soon.
  2. Wow! Those are really lovely finds! The packaging on the shampoo is impossible to pass up, I don't blame you for buying them! Plus, the handle detail on that handbag is really special. I just love finding vintage treasures, there is no better thrill!!
